United States presidential election 2016

by: wikipedia.org The election of the President and Vice President of the United States is an indirect vote in which citizens cast ballots for a slate of members of the U.S. Electoral College; these electors in turn directly elect the President and Vice President. Presidential elections occur quadrennially (the count beginning with the year 1792) on Election Day, the Tuesday between November 2 and 8,[1] coinciding with the general elections of various other federal, states and local races. The most recent was the 2008 presidential election, held on November 4 that year. The next will be the 2012 election, to be held on November 6.

The 2016 Election, Already Upon Us

nytimes.com ) DISTANT as it may now seem, with the Republican race dominating the news and President Obama sitting in the White House, the Democrats are not all that far from the tumult of another nominating contest themselves.

Paul Ryan might be great choice ... for 2016

Mitt Romney introduced Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as “The next president of the United States” last Saturday in Norfolk, Virginia.
He was right.  Mitt’s probably not going to be the next president, but Ryan could be a big name for 2016.
Rep. Paul Ryan represents the best of a policy wonk.  From my view, he’s better than Romney across the board, and far more qualified in terms of commitment in conservative theory.   His number-crunching puts pressure on everyone to tell the truth and not spin numbers.  And though his budget numbers are just as arbitrary and pie-in-the-sky as the Obama administration’s, his theory is grounded in realistic expectations of debt, health care costs, and the changes of our economy.  Sure, he puts up a few unrealistic assumptions, but he also provides a path for the GOP and conservatives to realize theory and enact policy.

The US 2016 Presidential race

Never mind that there are still many Republican Party primaries to come; that Mitt Romney hasn’t been formally nominated as the Republican Party’s candidate for president yet; and that he and incumbent president Barack Obama have not yet squared off in the general election. And, of course, Americans have not yet lined up at thousands of voting stations across the country. Doesn’t matter. The race for the 2016 nominations is already underway. Really it is. Elizabeth Warren for President? Democrats' Barren 2016 Bench

Republicans have a bumper crop of rising stars, but Democrats have so few prospects to succeed Barack Obama that their No. 1 choice has never won an election.

Current gambling odds for over 30 potential Replican Presidential candidates in 2016. Would you take David Petreus at 50/1?

I t’s far too early for Vegas to release any official gambling odds, but that won’t stop us from attempting to handicap the 2016 election.  Next to each of the candidates below we have listed the current odds on what we believe their chances are to win 2016 Republican presidential nomination.  Obviously, if there is a Republican victory in 2012 all bets are off.  Feel free to debate the odds we have listed or let us know which candidate you would bet on in the comments section.

Martin O’Malley

Born in 1963, Martin O’Malley was raised in Bethesda and Rockville, Maryland.  He attended a Jesuit high school and went on to study at a Catholic University of America.  At a young age he is said to have developed a passions for history, Irish culture and music.  While in college he got his first taste of politics when he signed on to the Gary Hart President Campaign.  Looking back at his time working in the campaign, O’Malley reflected, “Hart turned me on to the fact that one person can make a difference.”  Martin O’Malley went on to study law at the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore, earning his J.D. in 1988.  That same year he began dating his current wife, Catherine Curran, the daughter of the State’s Attorney General.

the New York Times provided some analysis of possible 2016 Democratic candidates.  Here is a list of the five types of possible candidates and some of the names that were mentioned in the article:

Bobby Jindal for President in 2016?

Our next presidential election in the United States will be in 2012, as we all know. President Obama will, obviously, be the candidate for the Democrats. And we know some of the Republican candidates lining up to run against him.

But looking ahead four years after that, to the 2016 presidential election, the list of names becomes more about political speculation. Still, there are some people even now that are generally agreed to be front runners.

2016 US Presidential Candidates :: 2016 US Presidential Candidates

When political pundits or politics geeks speculate about 2016, there is only one “given.” Barack Obama will not be the Democratic presidential nominee. During the 2016 campaign, Obama will either be completing his second term or he will be a discredited president who was rejected by the voters in 2012.

Election of a Republican president in 2012 will probably freeze out any GOP contenders in 2016 other than the incumbent. If Obama is re-elected, the race for the nomination will be wide open in both parties.
